Geoff Marchant, former YLHS Treasurer

We are sorry to report the recent death of former YLHS Treasurer Geoff Marchant.

Geoff Marchant took on the mantle of Treasurer for Yatton Local History Society at the
2008 AGM and immediately set out to consolidate the Society’s finances after a period of uncertainty.  Geoff was meticulous in his record-keeping and set about the accounts in his own careful and thorough manner.
During the course of his tenure the role of Membership Secretary became vacant and
Geoff kindly stepped into the breach, again keeping full records and also monitoring
attendances at meetings.
By 2016 it became obvious that Geoff was suffering with health issues, but he managed
to soldier on until resigning at the 2018 AGM. Following this he continued to expand his research interests on many topics and gave the Society’s May 2018 talk to the membership on Captain Henry, a village hero of WWII.
Geoff ensured a smooth handover of his roles in 2018 and the Society remains truly grateful to him for all he achieved during his ten-year appointment.
